Ingredients

For the Cajun Steak:

  • 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 8 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

For the Cajun Shrimp:

  • 1/2 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Steaks

  1. Season the steaks: Generously rub both sides with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let them rest at room temperature for 15 minutes.
  2. Sear: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear steaks for 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust to your preferred doneness.
  3. Butter baste: In the final minute, add butter and spoon it over the steaks as they finish cooking. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes.

Step 2: Cook the Shrimp

  1. Season the shrimp: Toss with Cajun seasoning until evenly coated.
  2. Sauté: Heat olive oil in a separate skillet. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.
  3. Cook shrimp: Add shrimp and cook 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  4. Finish: Stir in butter and lemon juice, letting the flavors meld for 1 minute.

Step 3: Serve and Garnish

  • Plate steak and shrimp together.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon wedges.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Tips for Success

  • Steak doneness: Use a meat thermometer—130°F (54°C) for medium-rare, 140°F (60°C) for medium.
  • Spice level: Add a pinch of cayenne or chili flakes if you prefer more heat.
  • Perfect pairings: Serve with garlic mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, or a fresh salad.
