Surf & Turf with Garlic Butter Sauce

Ingredients
For the Steak & Seafood:
- 2 filet mignon steaks (or ribeye for a richer cut)
- ½ lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- ½ lb cooked crab claws
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme or parsley, chopped (for garnish)
For the Garlic Butter Sauce:
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup low-sodium beef or chicken broth
- Optional: ½ cup white wine (adds depth but can be omitted)
- ½ tsp Dijon mustard
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Instructions
1. Cook the Steak and Seafood:
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season the steaks with salt, pepper, paprika, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Sear steaks for 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare (adjust based on thickness and desired doneness). Transfer to a plate and let rest.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and add minced garlic. Sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add shrimp and crab claws. Cook for 2–3 minutes until shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove from heat.
2. Prepare the Garlic Butter Sauce:
- In a separate saucepan, melt 2 tbsp butter over medium heat.
- Whisk in the heavy cream, broth, white wine (if using), Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Let simmer gently for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens slightly.
3. Assemble and Serve:
- Plate each steak with a generous portion of shrimp and crab claws.
- Drizzle the garlic butter sauce over the top.
- Garnish with chopped fresh thyme or parsley.
