Glazed Chicken Wings

Glazed Chicken Wings

A flavorful, oven-baked chicken wing recipe featuring a beautifully balanced sweet-and-savory glaze

These Glazed Chicken Wings are the perfect combination of crispy, sticky, sweet, and savory. They are baked—not fried—making them lighter yet still wonderfully satisfying. The wings are coated in a simple seasoning, baked until golden and crisp, then tossed in a glossy honey-soy glaze infused with garlic, ginger, and a touch of heat from chili flakes.

Serve them as an appetizer, a party snack, or even as a main course alongside rice, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad. For gatherings, pair them with celery sticks, colorful veggie platters, and a variety of dipping sauces.

This recipe uses simple ingredients but delivers impressive flavor. The key to crisp baked wings is drying them thoroughly and baking at a high temperature. The glaze thickens beautifully and clings to every wing for a perfect finish.

Ingredients

Chicken Wings

  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split and tips removed
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or olive oil spray)

Honey Soy Glaze

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 large garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon finely diced fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust for heat preference)
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions

1. Prepare the Chicken Wings

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with foil, then place a sheet of parchment paper on top. This helps prevent sticking and makes cleanup easier.

Pat the chicken wings completely dry using paper towels. Removing moisture is essential for getting crisp skin in the oven.

Add the wings to a bowl, then toss with flour, salt, and black pepper. Shake off any excess flour so the coating remains light. Drizzle with olive oil or lightly spray with olive oil spray to help them brown evenly.

2. Bake Until Crispy

Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 35 minutes, turning the wings after about 20 minutes so they cook evenly and develop a golden, crisp surface.

3. Prepare the Honey Soy Glaze

While the wings bake, make the glaze. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, soy sauce, crushed garlic, ginger, chili flakes, water, and cornstarch.

Place over medium heat and bring to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally until the glaze slightly thickens and coats the back of a spoon. It should be glossy, sticky, and fragrant.

4. Coat and Finish the Wings

Remove the wings from the oven and transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the warm glaze over the wings and toss until they are well coated. Return them to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 10 minutes, turning halfway through. This final step helps the glaze adhere and caramelize slightly.

5. Rest and Serve

Allow the wings to cool for 10 minutes. As the glaze cools, it thickens even more, giving the wings their signature sticky finish. Toss them once or twice during cooling to ensure an even, glossy coat.

Serve warm. Garnish with sesame seeds, sliced green onions, or chopped fresh cilantro if desired.
