Creamy Homemade Mango Ice Cream

Skip the store-bought tubs and make this creamy, healthy mango ice cream at home using just a blender—no ice cream machine required! It’s naturally sweetened with honey, ultra-creamy thanks to Greek yogurt, and bursting with the tropical flavor of ripe mangoes.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • No churn, no fuss – just a blender and a metal pan.
  • Naturally sweetened with honey.
  • Thick and creamy texture from full-fat Greek yogurt.
  • Only 4 ingredients!
  • Perfect for using up fresh mangoes during mango season.

Ingredients

  • 300g ripe, sweet mango, peeled, cubed, and frozen
  • ½ cup (120 mL) full-fat plain Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup (60 mL) honey (adjust depending on mango sweetness)
  • 1–3 teaspoons lime juice, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep your pan: Place a metal loaf pan or cake pan in the freezer ahead of time to chill. This helps the ice cream firm up faster and stay creamy.
  2. Blend the base:
    • In a high-speed blender, add the Greek yogurt, lime juice, and honey first. Try to pour the honey in the center so it blends in fully.
    • Add the frozen mango cubes last.
  3. Blend:
    • Blend on high speed. You may need to stop and push down the mixture toward the blade several times using a tamper or wooden spoon.
    • Once the mixture becomes creamy and smooth, stop blending. Do not overblend—you want the ice cream to stay cold and firm.
  4. Serve or freeze:
    • You can serve immediately for a soft-serve consistency.
    • For scoopable ice cream, transfer to the chilled metal pan and freeze for at least 1 hour.
  5. To serve after long freezing:
    • Let the ice cream sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before scooping if it’s too firm.
  6. Storage tips:
    • Cover the pan tightly with plastic wrap and then a layer of aluminum foil.
    • Store in the freezer for up to 1 week for best texture.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use very ripe, less fibrous mangoes like Ataulfo, Kent, or Alphonso for a smoother texture.
  • If your mangoes are very sweet, you may want to add a splash of lime juice for balance.
  • No Greek yogurt? You can make your own by straining plain yogurt through a cheesecloth.

Optional Add-Ins

  • A pinch of cardamom or vanilla extract for extra flavor.
  • Fold in chopped mango, shredded coconut, or crushed pistachios after blending for texture.

Enjoy a refreshing scoop of homemade mango ice cream—simple, creamy, and bursting with real fruit flavor!
