Each piece is wrapped in seasoned pizza dough and baked until golden brown, then served warm with your favorite dipping sauces like marinara, mustard, or ketchup.
Ingredients:
- 1 tube refrigerated Pillsbury pizza dough
- 2 (12-ounce) packages cocktail wieners (drained and patted dry)
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, for a mild kick)
- Flour (for dusting the surface)
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the pan: Lightly grease the inside of an 8-inch springform pan with non-stick cooking spray and set it aside.
- Make the butter seasoning: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and red pepper flakes.
- Roll out the dough: On a lightly floured surface, unroll the pizza dough. Gently stretch or roll it into a more even rectangle if needed.
- Cut the dough: Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, slice the dough into small strips about 1 inch by 2 inches.
- Wrap the sausages: Lightly brush each strip with the seasoned butter. Wrap each cocktail wiener in a strip of dough, pinching the seam to seal.
- Assemble in pan: Stand the wrapped wieners upright in the prepared springform pan, spacing them slightly apart. If needed, tilt the pan gently to help them stay upright while filling.
- Final butter brush: Brush the tops of the dough with the remaining butter mixture.
- Bake: Place the springform pan on a baking sheet and bake uncovered for 30 minutes.
- Cover and continue baking: After 30 minutes, loosely tent the top with foil and continue baking for another 20–25 minutes, or until the tops are golden and the dough is cooked through.
- Cool and serve: Let the pan cool for 10 minutes before releasing the sides of the springform pan.
- Dip and enjoy: Serve warm with dipping sauces of your choice.
Tips for Success:
- Dry sausages well: Make sure the cocktail wieners are completely dry before wrapping to avoid soggy dough.
- Want cheesy bites? Tuck a small piece of cheddar or mozzarella inside each wrap for a melty surprise.
- Make ahead: You can assemble the wrapped sausages a few hours ahead and refrigerate until ready to bake.
This pull-apart pigs in a blanket dish is as fun to make as it is to eat. Whether you’re entertaining guests or treating your family, it’s guaranteed to disappear fast!
