½ cup (60g) cornstarch

1 large egg, lightly beaten

1 cup (240ml) cold water

3 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chilli paste)

2 tablespoons soy sauce

3 tablespoons honey

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon grated ginger

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)

Garnish:

Sesame seeds

Thinly sliced green onions

Instructions

1. Marinate the Chicken:

In a large bowl, combine chicken wings with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Toss to coat evenly. Let it marinate for 10–15 minutes.

2. Prepare the Batter:

In a separate bowl, mix all-purpose flour and cornstarch. Gradually whisk in the beaten egg and cold water until a smooth batter forms. The consistency should resemble pancake batter.

3. First Fry:

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 180°C (350°F). Dip each chicken piece into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
