Grilled Beef with Green Peppercorns and Onions
Bold, juicy, and irresistibly aromatic – this grilled beef recipe is an absolute flavor bomb. Fresh green peppercorns and caramelized onions elevate every bite, creating a savory main dish that’s perfect for weeknight dinners or weekend grilling.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) beef steak (sirloin or ribeye recommended)
- 2 tbsp fresh green peppercorns (substitute preserved if fresh is unavailable)
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Optional: Fresh red chili peppers, thinly sliced (for garnish or added heat)
Instructions:
1. Prep the Ingredients
Slice the beef steak into strips approximately ½ inch thick. Lightly crush some of the green peppercorns to release their flavor and set aside.
2. Marinate the Beef
In a bowl, combine the beef strips with olive oil, minced garlic, crushed green peppercorns, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Mix well to coat evenly.
Let marinate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to soak into the meat.
3. Grill the Beef
Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill to medium-high heat. Grill the marinated beef strips for 2–3 minutes per side, or until they reach your preferred doneness. Remove and rest for a minute before serving.
4. Sauté the Onions
In a separate skillet, heat a splash of olive oil and sauté the sliced onions over medium heat until soft, golden, and slightly caramelized – about 8–10 minutes.
5. Assemble and Serve
Plate the grilled beef and top with the sautéed onions. Garnish with extra green peppercorns and sliced red chili peppers if you like a bit of heat.
Serving Suggestions:
- Serve with steamed jasmine rice, mashed potatoes, or warm crusty bread.
- Add a side of grilled vegetables or a crisp green salad for a balanced meal.
