A Gooey, Chocolatey Delight in a Flaky Pastry Shell
If you’re a fan of warm, melty chocolate wrapped in buttery, flaky pastry, these Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Turnovers are a dream come true. They’re easy to make, incredibly indulgent, and perfect for dessert, brunch, or a sweet snack.
Ingredients
- 1 package puff pastry sheets, thawed
- ½ cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk)
- ¼ cup mini chocolate chips (for garnish)
- ¼ cup cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat & Prep:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup. - Make the Filling:
In a small bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. - Assemble the Turnovers:
Unfold the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut into squares (about 4–5 inches each).
Spoon a heaping teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each square. Top with a few chocolate chips. - Seal & Brush:
Fold each square over into a triangle. Press the edges firmly with a fork to seal.
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water. Brush the tops of each turnover with the egg wash. - Bake to Golden Perfection:
Arrange the turnovers on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown. - Garnish & Serve:
Allow the turnovers to cool slightly, then sprinkle with mini chocolate chips while they’re still warm so they melt just a bit. Serve and enjoy while still gooey!
Recipe Notes
- You can swap in dark chocolate chips for a richer flavor.
- Drizzle with melted chocolate or a dusting of powdered sugar for extra flair.
- These turnovers are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days and reheated.
