Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf

Ingredient:

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (for topping)
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, and garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened. Let cool.
  3. Prepare Meat Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, sautéed vegetables, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix well.
  4. Layer Cheese: Take half of the meat mixture and press it into the loaf pan. Sprinkle shredded provolone or mozzarella on top, then add the rest of the meat mixture.
  5. Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes or until the meat is cooked through.
  6. Add Cheese Topping: Remove from the oven, place slices of provolone on top, and return to the oven for 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Garnish & Serve: Let rest for 5 minutes, then slice and serve. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
