Ingredient:
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 slices provolone cheese (for topping)
- Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Sauté Vegetables: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, and garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened. Let cool.
- Prepare Meat Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, sautéed vegetables, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix well.
- Layer Cheese: Take half of the meat mixture and press it into the loaf pan. Sprinkle shredded provolone or mozzarella on top, then add the rest of the meat mixture.
- Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes or until the meat is cooked through.
- Add Cheese Topping: Remove from the oven, place slices of provolone on top, and return to the oven for 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish & Serve: Let rest for 5 minutes, then slice and serve. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
