Instructions:

Set the Oven to 350°F (175°C) for Preheating. Flour and grease a baking pan that is 9×9 inches square or one that is of a comparable size.

The dry ingredients should be prepared: Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, baking powder, and powdered nutmeg in a medium-sized basin and mix with a whisk. Leave this be.

To make the buttercream, combine the softened butter with 1 cup of granulated sugar in a large basin and beat until the mixture is frothy and light.

Pour in the Vanilla Extract and Eggs: Beat in the eggs one by one while adding the vanilla extract. Thoroughly blend all ingredients.

Add Dry components and Sour Cream: Gradually combine the dry components with the wet ingredients, adding sour cream in alternate batches. The dry ingredients should be added last. Combine just until well blended. If you want a springy cake, don’t overmix the batter.

Add Apples: Carefully incorporate the apple dice into the batter.

Pour the batter onto the baking pan that has been preheated and spread it out evenly.

To make the cinnamon sugar topping, combine 1/4 cup of granulated sugar with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon in a small bowl. Disperse this equally over the pan of cake batter.

Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until golden brown and toothpick comes out clean when inserted in middle.

When ready to serve, take the cake out of the oven and let it cool in the pan for around 15 minutes. The next step is to decide whether to serve it warm or to wait until it has cooled entirely before cutting it.

As an optional finishing touch, you may make a glaze by combining powdered sugar with a little amount of milk until you get the consistency you wish. Drizzle this glaze over the cooled cake. After you drizzle it over the cake, wait for it to set before you serve.

Cinnamon apple cake, cooked from scratch, is delicious.
